About DaCRA

The Danish Cardiovascular Research Academy (DaCRA) is a new national research academy whose purpose is to support the research environments and to improve the quality of the education specifically within the cardiovascular area. The research academy is financed in the period of 2003-2007 with an estimated grant of about 18 mio. Dkr. all together from the Research Committee of Education, faculties of health sciences at the universities of Copenhagen, Aarhus, Southern Denmark and external partners.

The research academy apply to Ph.D.-students with projects in basical, clinical and epidemiologic aspects of the cardiovascular research also incl. kidney research. It consists of about 70 supervisors at the moment mainly professors and associate professors employed at the 3 faculties of health sciences  (click “members”). The research academy are requesting other research workers, who make cardiovascular research on an international level and who also can teach Ph.D-students, to be registered as a supervisor.

The research academy´s purpose would be supported by:

An increased number of Ph.D-scholarships earmarked for cardiovascular research
Offers of completely new cardiovascular Ph.D-courses on a high international level (click “courses”).
Stimulating the local research environments through invitations to foreign professors and postdocs, through network building and through scientific meetings and sommer camps.
 
The research academy is managed by a manager of the research academy, an executive committee and a research academy board. 

The daily administration is a close cooperation with the 3 administrators of the 3 faculties of health sciences.

All Ph.D.-students with projects related to cardiovascular research at the 3 faculties of health sciences can apply to be registered as a member of the research academy.
